Challenges and Future Developments Despite the growing recognition of the importance of an improved police response to missing person cases and the clear link between them and unidentified cases, the needs of unidentified persons, bodies, and their families’ cases (the other side of the coin) remain unacknowledged. At present, no common minimum standards on the investigation of unidentified bodies/people exist within the United Kingdom.
